Meet Ed's Mom

Discover the inspiration behind Ed's automotive genius!

Ed's Mom helps out any way she can to make her son's transmission shops successful. She fancies herself quite the radio talent, but it seems her spots for Edward's Transmission shops always take a slight detour...

Little Edward

Little Edward has always been a mechanical genius, even when his main vehicle was a tricycle.

Little Edward's Favorite Clutch Cookies

cookiesJust like Ed's Mom used to make!

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening solid
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Hershey's Kisses

Directions:

Remove any old transmission parts stored in your oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Mix flour, baking soda, and salt.

Beat sugar, brown sugar, shortening, and peanut butter in a clean transmission housing with an electric mixer until blended. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla. On low speed, gradually beat in flour mixture. Use a large bowl if you don't happen to have a clean transmission housing.

Divide dough into three portions. Cover and chill 2 hours or until easy to roll.

Roll dough into balls about the size of the shifter knob on a '64 Chevy Impala. That's about the size of a walnut if you're not a transmission expert like Edward.

Place cookies on a clean, flat transmission pan from a heavy-duty GM 4L80E transmission. A cookie sheet may also be used.

Using the transmission input shaft of your choice, make a small indentation in the center of each cookie and place a Hershey's Kiss in the indentation.

Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes until light brown and no longer puffy. While you're waiting, why not go outside and check your transmission fluid?

Allow cookies to cool on wire racks for 5 to 10 minutes after removing them from the oven. You wouldn't want little Edward to burn his fingers, would you?
